Windows 1.01 on a 2.4GHz quad-core machine part 1
English: I don’t know, why I typed WINDOWS 3.11 RULEZ!!! in WRITE.EXE at 6:09. Maybe because I was already very tired and because I have seen a few Win 3.11 videos short before taking this one. If you want to know, why the title bars don’t have the default color, please watch part 2 from 0:16. When Windows slows down, the reason is that I ran it from a floppy disk. It would be much faster from HDD. I used this system: Intel Core 2 Q6600 quad core @ 2.4GHz 4GB RAM 2x NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT (SLI) Win 1.01 cannot see my HDDs, because they are formatted w/ FAT32 and NTFS. I didn’t use a virtual machine, I booted directly from a floppy disk. There are 4 methods to install Win 1.01 (you must use the win command to start windows): —- 1. use a floppy disc —- If you don’t have an original Win 1.01 floppy anymore, you can use a floppy-image and write it on the floppy w/ winimage. Note that using an image w/o having a win 1.01 license might be illegal. Then just set the floppy drive as first boot device in the BIOS and insert the floppy disc. You may be able to use a memory card or an usb stick instead of a floppy disc, if you find a way to convert the image. I am sure it works w/ flash-drives under 2GB but I forgot the name of the software you can use for this. —- 2. use a hard disc —- Boot from your floppy like w/ method 1, then use fdisk to create a primary FAT12 or FAT16 partition (it must be bootable) and format it.
